The coming week starts off with a crucial development, that of Chinese FX reserves. If outflows are smaller than forecast then this would provide a boost for risk assets in the coming sessions, as it indicates that China has managed to control its outflows. Conversely, any bigger outflow could put stock markets on the back foot, risking a sell-off similar to the one seen at the beginning of last week. Janet Yellen’s testimony to Congress and US retail sales will be the other major events to watch out for, especially now that non-farm payrolls have revived confidence in the US economic recovery. Some of the notable indicators that you will find on the calendars include: Consumer credit report: popularly known as CCR, this is a report that aids in estimating the changes in the dollar amounts brought about by the issuance of unsecured loans aimed at purchasing consumer goods. Although, the indicator isn't a big market mover, it will help you in predicting the future spending levels of the consumers-if more loans have been given it means that consumers have more money to spend. The report also aids in informing you on the position that you should take when trading the retail sales and personal consumption reports. Consumer confidence index (CCI): it's usually released at 10am EST of every Tuesday of each month. It's usually a survey of over 5,000 US households and it intends to show the spending power, financial health and confidence of the average American consumer. The survey comes with three headline figures: the index of consumer sentiment, current economic conditions and index of consumer expectations. This survey is usually a big market mover since the confidence of the consumer is of great importance for the performance of the country as a whole.

Welcome to the Investors Trading Academy economic calendar of the week. Each week our news analysts review the upcoming economic events that you should be monitoring. Headlines over terrorism and immigration will dominate the markets after the triple bombings in Brussels spread worries throughout Europe. Monday sees many markets on extended holidays for Easter Monday. In the UK, the heaviest day for releases will be Thursday, with figures on fourth quarter Gross Domestic Product, monthly mortgage approvals, money supply and the current account balance (deficit) are all set for release. Previously, on Tuesday, British lenders would find out whether the Old Lady on Threadneedle Street wants them to start building up additional capital buffers to guard against the potential risks that might arise from looser lending. Of course, in the end the week's main event is still expected to be the March US non-farm payrolls report. In the Eurozone, a slate of manufacturing sector purchasing managers' indices out of the euro area will also be worth watching for any signs of improvement on the heels of the European Central Bank's latest stimulus measures. On Friday in the US, the all-important monthly jobs report is issued. Main interest is in job numbers — in particular, the change in non-farm payrolls. And economists expect that 200,000 jobs were created in March, down from 242,000 in February. The unemployment rate may have held steady at 4.9 per cent with average earnings up 0.2 per cent. The wage reading is important. Higher wages infer higher inflation and higher interest rates. Also on Friday, consumer sentiment, construction spending and car sales data are released with the ISM manufacturing reading. In China, purchasing manager surveys for manufacturing and services are due. Strong growth in jobs and a decent pickup in wage growth could see the greenback rally gather momentum, which would have deleterious consequences for oil prices. Company news is very thin on the ground this week, with some way to go before we get into the next US earnings season. As a result, the economic calendar will be the main focus, and here at least we have a decent selection of data from the major economies, including China, which will release PMI data for both its manufacturing and services sectors. Economic Calendar is one of the most important tools for traders. To get more info click here: http://www.dailyfx.com/calendar Why is the economic calendar so important to traders? That's because prices move fast in the forex market, very fast. Since the market never closes and the value of currencies can be more sensitive to macroeconomic global trends, the forex market can offer significant volatility for retail and institutional traders. Nowhere is this volatility more apparent than when major data announcements get delivered. Non-farm payrolls or NFP, is traditionally a big mover in the FX market. It's published on the first Friday of every month and this lists the number of jobs added in the US economy for the month prior. This is often the first look that the market gets on the most recently completed month and this can bring massive volatility to markets around the world. When NFP or non-farm payrolls get announced, prices can move very fast. Volatility can increase massively and stops can get hit before we even know what's happening. This is why it's so important for a trader to stay abreast of the economic calendar. There's no place to do that better than DailyFX. At DailyFX, we keep our economic calendar up to date with the news events that matter. We even categorize those calendar events by perceived level of importance and each economic announcement includes a description about what it is and what traders traditionally should watch for. We list the estimate or expected number so that traders know what to look for going into the news. This page is really very easy to customize. You can set the economic calendar up to automatically display in your time zone of preference and you can choose which events are displayed by indicating the importance or currencies you like to see the news for. So, bookmark the economic calendar page and come back each and every morning before you start trading so you know where volatility may impact your trades and your plan. Welcome to the Investors Trading Academy economic calendar of the week. Each week our news analysts review the upcoming economic events that you should be monitoring. As the second month of the year begins traders are glad to say goodbye to January which hopefully is not an indication of what’s ahead. The January jobs report will highlight this week’s economic calendar. While analysts are forecasting another strong month of job creation, much of the focus will be on wage growth. In December, the labor market exceeded expectations by creating 292,000 jobs as the headline unemployment rate held steady at 5%, a seven-and-a-half-year low. But wages barely rose from a month earlier, a long-running problem that has vexed Federal Reserve policy makers who would like to see higher wages lift prices and inflation upwards toward the Fed’s 2% target. The January report, due to be released by the Labor Department on Friday, is expected to reveal more than 200,000 new jobs were created last month but that wages remained essentially stagnant. If that’s the case it will give the Fed additional pause as policymakers, consider raising interest rates at their next meeting in March. The Fed raised rates in December for the first time in nearly a decade citing in particular a strong labor market. Also due is a report on personal income and outlays. This is also a key inflation indicator as it sheds light on how much Americans are making and spending. If those numbers are rising than so will inflation. The report is due out Monday. Elsewhere this week China data takes centre stage with manufacturing PMI figures. We also have meetings from the RBA and the BoE, which may well join their counterparts at the BoJ and European Central Bank in becoming more dovish. Bank of England governor Mark Carney will have a chance to explain the Monetary Policy Committee´s take on recent events in global capital markets, following recent 'dovish' remarks from some MPC members and his peers in the Eurozone and Japan. On Thursday, the MPC will decide on interest rates and the BoE will publish its latest Inflation Report. However, the reaction to any remarks might be muted given that the monthly US employment report is scheduled to be published the next day right on the heels of a non-committal Fed policy statement on 27 January. Setting the stage for the governor will be a raft of manufacturing sector data from around the globe, the UK included. Earnings season still has some way to go in the US, with key names such as Alphabet -Google to most people, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and LinkedIn to dominate the agenda. Full-year earnings from pharma giants GSK and AstraZeneca will be key for the UK market, along with online supermarket Ocado, which needs to post good figures as Amazon continues to talk about opening its own online grocery arm in the UK. Welcome to the Investors Trading Academy economic calendar of the week. Each week our news analysts review the upcoming economic events that you should be monitoring. China will celebrate its long Lunar Holiday this week. In Australia, the week kicks off on Monday with the release of data on job advertisements by ANZ. In the past, budding employers would advertise positions in newspapers or on job websites. Now positions are more likely to be found on individual company websites or through social media. So while the data on job ads is less instructive, figures show that they have still risen for seven out of the past nine months. Turning attention overseas, there are sparse helpings of ‘top shelf’ US economic data in the coming week, with the main economic data of interest being in retail sales on Friday. However ahead of that the focus will be on the testimony by Federal Reserve chair, Janet Yellen, to the US House of Representatives financial services committee on Wednesday and her testimony to the equivalent US Senate Committee on Thursday. Investors will be hoping for clues on the timing of future rate hikes. In terms of data the week kicks off on Tuesday with the release of the monthly US wholesale sales and inventories figures, while on Wednesday the monthly US Federal Budget is slated for release. And on Thursday the usual weekly jobless claims numbers are released. On Friday retail sales figures, business inventories, import prices and the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index are released. Forecasts centre on retail sales lifting by 0.1 per cent in January after a 0.1 per cent fall in December. Similarly, a modest 0.1 per cent lift in business inventories is expected. The preliminary January reading on consumer sentiment is expected to show a modest lift from 92.0 to 93.0. Corporate news comes thick and fast next week, from all around the globe, with key reports from Rio Tinto, ARM Holdings, Rolls Royce and Twitter. Risk appetite has taken a knock in the last few sessions, with stock markets unable to push on from their mid-week rebound. As we look to next week, we will see if gains can come through on the back of fund managers deploying cash to continue buying stocks in undervalued sectors.
